Users can find fake web pages promoting low quality products are contained in its search results. Sometimes it will redirect users to other reputable search results page like Google and it is natural for users to believe Google’s search results. However, when users are typing in their search entries, browser hijacker shows nothing even if you have entered the most common word like ‘computer’, so it is not a search engine in any real sense. Of course, such a fraudulent search engine also lacks the result filter to sort search results for users, so there is no guarantee for users’ browsing security. Moreover, the other things that it does on a computer are even more terrible and serious than that. is defined as a maleficent browser hijacker because it can observe victims’ Internet browsing activities on the infected computers by having control over browsers. It is able to infect different browsers by using different means. Sometimes users cannot find any of its traces on browser extension settings except for browser homepage setting, but actually the control for browser has already been taken by the browser hijacker secretly. To deceive users and avoid attracting attention to itself, its add-on name will not be presented with any words that indicate it is from another fake search website. It may use other irrelevant name even use the positive words like “browser defender” to pretend as a common or legitimate tool to avoid being suspected.

In addition to abrupt changes to browser settings, constant redirect to unwanted web pages is another visible symptom of this browser hijacker. Users of hijacked browsers will be forced to visit and other sponsored websites repeatedly once this malicious website enters the system successfully. The suspicious websites that users are taken to are usually about commercial ads and service/product promotion. The authors of ads and software developers can make money with their websites even if you don’t buy their products. They can generate revenue from page views and clicks the websites has received. Furthermore, users could be brought to unsafe software download sites that will automatically try to download unwanted programs or malware onto users’ computers. Those unneeded programs can be counterfeit software or the applications that you don’t ever never hear of and nobody is willing to download. Multiple programs will get installed on the compromised system at the same time fast and you don’t even have time to cancel the installation. The computer infected with redirect virus would become extremely slow and show high CPU utilization.
